An area of a hospital which retains some of the most delicate and expensive equipment in a hospital is the NICU and it's amazing how some of the machines are designed to work with such tiny babies who have been born premature. A baby will often be hooked up to several machines if his or her organs have failed to fully developed and will often be poked and prodded by things like pulse oximeters respiratory monitors and cardiac monitoring equipment. There are an awful lot of stats that need to be in good working order for the human body to function correctly and sometimes preemies have many issues.
